Stitches

What is the best book about crochet?

I knit and it's been a long, long time since I've crocheted. I want to get back into it, but don't know the best place for a book. I've got the 'Happy Hooker' and don't really care for it. And Vogue doesn't have a crochet version of their stupendous stitchonary series. Any suggestions?

  1. i bought crochet and knitting for dummies and i love it. they teach you the basics and then move on to move complex loops. i hope it helps!
  2. I am a crochet instructor and I have to tell you I haven't found any one 'anthology' of crochet stitches that I've ever really been happy with. (I actually like "Beautiful Knitting Patterns" by Gisela Klopper for knitting). You didn't say what type of crochet you were looking to do, but for a good all-around crochet selection and decent stitches I can recommend the following three books: "Crocheting School - A Complete Course" - Sterling Publishing "Donna Kooler's Encyclopedia of Crochet" - Leisure Arts "101 Stitches for Afghans" by Jean Leinhauser
