Is it okay to bring knitting needles on a plane?

Or will the security make you give the needles to them? What about bringing plastic needles on the plane?

  1. From what I understand, you will have to check them in your luggage. You won't be able to carry them onto the plane.
  2. I'm pretty sure you can't take them on a plane.
  3. the knitting needles could be used as a weapon, so no matter how kind you are or no matter how much you want to use them on the flight, the security will not allow you to bring them on. sorry! hope this helps...
  4. The above people are incorrect. You are allowed to bring knitting needles on the plane. It says so right here: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm
  5. not in your handluggage
  6. You can bring them on board! I brought both my metal circular needles, plastic straight needles, a wooden crochet needles, plastic counters, and small pair of scissors with no problem. I flew out of JFK. The scissors may be a problem for you if you fly out of a different airport, but I asked the airline carrier and when I was at the airport, and you're now allowed to carry knitting needles onboard. It made my flight so much easier to deal with! Knit in peace, my friend.
