can you bring knitting needles on a plane?
I want to bring wooden knitting needles on a domestic flight, is that allowed?

- Yes, I have done it many times, even on an international flight. If in doubt, call the airline and verify. However I just did this over New Year's, so I think you are OK. If you want to be doubly cautious, bring along a self-addressed, stamped envelope big enough to contain your work, so if they confiscate it, you can at least get it back.
- Yes you can. Many checkpoints throughout the world may have differnet standards but in the United States you can bring knitting needles. Below is a list of items you can bring on a plane or through luggage.
- I have taken knitting needles on several domestic US flights and it was fine. Here are my suggestions: I try to avoid bringing metal needles, opting for plastic or bamboo. I also try to use circular needles instead of straight because they have a much smaller "needle part".
- I travel frequently with knitting needles without any problems, either bamboo or bamboo circulars. However, any security screener can take them away, even if they are "allowed" by the airlines and TSA. Also, some individual airports may have additional rules. At London Heathrow, the airport would not permit me to take my knitting needles in my carry-on, I had to check them.
