Where can I get a pair of 10 inch size 50 knitting needles made of other than plastic ?

I like knitting scarves to sell. I have some patterns calling for a size 50 knitting needles. All I have been able to find in the stores are Lion Brand and Susan Bates 14 inch plastic. For knitting scarves I prefer the 10 inch knitting. Any one know where I can find a pair of the shorter needles in wood?

  1. Walmart. They have all kinds of knitting needles. Wooden and plastic.
  2. a haberdashery. i get all mine from the charity shop.
  3. Get dowels and cut them to the size you want, then 'sharpen' them and put ends on ... or you could ask any 'woodworker' to do this ... I know, because I have a beautiful pair of knitting needles my husband made for me when I couldn't find any but plastic ... they are my 'forever favorite' needles, too, so don't ask if you can have mine!
  4. Michaels should have bamboo needles and I'm also giving you a link to Marymaxim as they have a good selection also. Look under yarn accessories.
  5. here are some sites that offer size 50 in other materials wood: http://www.stitchdiva.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=EDJE04 steel: http://www.sizes.com/tools/knitting_needles.htm glass: http://www.glasspens.com/needles.html dont be surprised that these needles cost alot more then the plastic needles.
  6. I found two of them for you at Joann.com One is a Lucite 14" size 50 for $5.21 and the other is A Boye 14" size 50 for $8.84. I couldn't see what the material for the Boye was but these are on sale I think that the sale price is an on line reduction but If you call to order they have to have the SKU number that identifies the item you want. Hope this helps . If you decide on one of these and you can't find the SKU number e-mail me and I will get it for you.
