Knitting Needles?

I have an American knitting pattern that needs size 19mm needles. I'm not having any luck finding needles this size. Anyone know where I could get these? Just looked at the pattern again and its circular needles. The pattern's from a new book out called Twinkle's big city knits

  1. Looks like you may have to order them in from the US. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knitting_needle#Needle_Gauge Ebay.com has some sellers.

  3. 19mm? That's a new one, you could tighten your tension using 20mm needles. Ohhh! Here's some! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/19-mm-US-35-Surina-wood-Knitting-Needles_W0QQitemZ250098736315QQcategoryZ11799QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem And here http://www.winghamwoolwork.co.uk/surina_needles.htm Circular! I'd give up and go with the tighter tension on 20mm, if you do a tension square (I rarely bother but this would be a good time) you may find that you knit to the pattern on 20mm needles anyway. These guys are really good, try asking them http://www.angelyarns.com/knitting/needles.php
  4. You may be able to find them in some yarn shops, but you may need to order them from Lacis or Patternworks or Webs. A 19mm needle is a size 35 US, and no longer particularly common. For a list of current US, mm, and old European sizes and their conversions, bookmark this site: http://www.fibergypsy.com/common/needles.shtml
  5. They have them on this website www.buckden-village.co.uk/knitting-uk/knitting-needles.htm
  6. 19mm knitting needles are US size 35. They've become popular because projects work up quickly on them when using super bulky yarn. And worsted weight yarn worked on the large needles looks lacy, even if you're only knitting plain old garter stitch (knit every row). You must use circular needles if you're knitting in the round, but if you're knitting flat you can substitute straight needles. (Assuming the number of stitches will fit.) Circs are recommended because the weight of the project sits in your lap rather than being supported by your wrists. Note: For any pattern you need to use whatever needles give you the correct gauge. The pattern should say somewhere "x number of stitches and y number of rows equals 10 cm/4 inches." Make a gauge swatch & keep changing the needle size until you get the correct gauge. Do not change your tension (how loose or tight you knit), just the needles.

  8. You find many needles/needle sets at knit picks, you can buy needles separately an their not real expensive, or you can buy them in a really nice set thats interchangeable. They sell mostly circulars and their really good needles, they also sell books and yarns too. You can find knitpicks on the internet, and order either on the net, phone, or through the mail. You can also request a catalog. Hope this helps. There are alot of places to buy needles but I personally think knitpicks is your best bet.
