What is your favorite knitting magazine? Need suggestions?

I'd like to buy a subscription to a knitting magazine for my friend, but I have no idea which ones are good. I don't knit and have never even seen one. If you were to get a subscription, which would you choose? Thanks! She likes to knit stuff for children, hats, gloves, scarves, ponchos and blankets. I don't think she is into any super technical stuff. She knits more traditional.

  1. I like "Creative Knitting". Here's a like to their website: http://www.creativeknittingmagazine.com/index.php . "Knitsimple" is nice, too: http://www.knitsimplemag.com/mag/
  2. If she's into way-out technical stuff, KNITS from Interweave Press. Tried-and-true technical, step-by-step, "Knitter's Magazine". If she prefers relatively simple but *young* rather than relatively traditional, "Knit 1". Mature knitters who want high fashion, rather than young fads, would prefer "Vogue Knitting" to "Knit 1". They have the same publisher.
  3. I would, hands down, recommend Interweave Knits which comes out quarterly - it is published by Interweave press who is known, through out the knitting world, as one of the best publishers of knitting books and magazines. Its an amazingly popular magazine. Their fall issue, which came out in late August, sold out with in 3 weeks. By sold out, I mean the publisher didn't even have any more to distribute. The website is http://www.interweaveknits.com/ The other recommendation would be Vogue Knitting http://www.knittinginternationalmag.com/ . It is the other most popular knitting magazine (along with Interweave Knits). They have pretty good articles, but their patters, in my opinion, aren't the best - I (and many others I talked to/who's blogs I read) wonder who they have in mind as far as the person who will be wearing the objects in the magazine.
  4. My fav. would have to be KnitSimple because I can actually attempt the projects in it. Vogue knitting....never in a million years could I knit anything out of there.
