Stitches

Knitting: how do you count cast off stitches?

I cast off by knitting 2 st onto the right needle, then slipping the first st over the last st and off the needle. Then, knit another st so that there are again 2 st on the right needle, and repeat. Now, does this count as one stitch (the one that I slipped) or two (because I knitted two)? I can't seem to get the stitch count right for my pattern

  1. When you knit 2 sts and slip 1 stitch over, you've cast off one stitch.
