Knitting - Transfer stitches to new needles?
I broke the tip of the circular needles I was using and had to buy new needles. How do I transfer the stitches from the old needle to the new needle so that I can pick up the project exactly where I left off? Do I slip them knitwise, purlwise, or what? Thanks!

- When transfering to new needles to the best of my knowledge you should transfer purlwise in order for the stitches to be facing the same way on the new needles. Hope this helps.
- for me, all i do is juist connect the tips of the needles and then just slip the stiches from one needle to the other. simple enough.
- all you do is start knitting with your new circular needles. that way you dont have to slip purlwise and then possibly get problems later.
- I would do as Ashleigh said, just put the end that you are working on to the tip of new needles and slide them over especially if you are in the middle of the round. That is slide the done stitches on the new needle and pickup where you left off. That way you don't have to worry if it is purl or knit stitch. As these are circular it shouldn't be too difficult.
- I believe you can just knit the stitches onto your new needles OR just slip them purlwise. Good luck
- Always slip purlwise unless otherwise indicated.
- I agree with an earlier post that suggest "knitting onto the new needles" however if your uncomfortable doing that, just slip purlwise. :)
