in your best description, how do you cast OFF the knitting needles?
and do you need to do anything from the top that you casted on to? please if your willing to take the time try to describe how to cast off.

- 1. Knit the first 2 stitches very loosely. 2. Pass the first stitch over the second. 3. Knit the next stitch very loosely. 4. Repeat 2 & 3 across row. If working in pattern, knit the knit stitches; purl the purl stitches (as they were worked in the last row). Otherwise, same as above. KnittingHelp.com has a free online video of this.
