  3. I'll try the best that I can to explain how to cast on stitches at the beginning. Wind at the short end of the yarn around your index finger, slip it off of your finger and pass the longer end of the yarn in the circle that you formed with your finger. Pull up a small loop and insert the knitting needle in the loop that you just formed. Pull to tighten the loop on the needle This is your first stitch that will be on the left hand needle. With the other needle insert it in the stitch that is on the left needle and pass the yarn between the two needles and pull the yarn through keeping the stitch on the right needle. With the left needle pass it under the loop on the right needle and transfer it to the left needle.(It should be a slight twist). You should now have 2 stitches on the left needle. Insert the right needle between the 1st and 2nd stitch on the left needle, yarn over, draw through and transfer the loop as before to left needle.(All other stitches are done in this manner (between 2nd & 3rd ...etc). Continue until you have the required number of stitches. I hope this helped you to cast on.
