I need help with instructions for knitting a helmet liner for our troops.?
A recent call for knitters to make helmet liners for our troops gave the site for instructions, but I'm not sure about one step. Has anyone made this article? I'd sure like to hear from you.

- What's the site? I'd be interested in trying to make a few.
- I did a Yahoo Search for "helmet liners knitted" and found several links. Most brought me back to the top two I've attached at the bottom. The Geocities link gives a crocheted variation as well as the mailing instructions for the finished product. Agoodyarn.net and HJS studio.com show knitted helmets used in WWI and WWII. Since I'm not there, I can't see what is happening to tell if your pattern is messed up or if you are having problems reading the instructions. (Writing instructions is an art. Not everyone does it clearly.) Try comparing your pattern to ones on the links I have supplied. If something is missing, you should see the missing part in the other pattern. If it's cloudy instructions, seeing how a totally different pattern (hence the WWI and WWII links) did the same job can give you new ideas for creating that section of the helmet. From that you may be able to solve the problem for your project. If none of these suggestions work, go to your LYS (local yarn store) and see if someone there can help you. No yarn stores? Check with other groups that might be knitting this pattern -- churches, yarn guilds, online groups like knitlist.com or knittalk.com -- to see if they have had the same problem and found a solution. It's best to find a live person who can look at your work and compare it to the pattern. Trouble shooting knitting patterns via Internet can be difficult.
- Hi....Ive made several helmet liners.....The owner of our local knitshop rewrote the knitting instructions from the old WW ones. What trouble are you having?
