how long do you keep stitches?
Public Comments
- 7 to 10 days depending on where they are. Face usually 7 days, Elbow or calf area 10 days ar the area is being used and stretched all the time and takes longer to heal.
- 11-14 days because my head got bust open with a glass bottle
- Depending on the severity of the injury. The usual length is about one week. If you have a larger injury than it could be longer such as 12 days instead of seven. Keep your stitches clean and good luck. Hope this helps.
- Most doctors will recommend 7 to 10 days, but it really depends on the location and depth of the injury that was repaired. The deeper the injury you may have to leave them in for up to 14 days. I would call the doctors office or the emergency room that gave you the stitches for the removal date. Do not take them out yourself, follow up with your physician.
