how long do you keep stitches in?
Public Comments
- about a week
- Usually about 2 weeks.
- for how long the doctor has told you some stiches stay in for days while others for weeks
- Normally 5-7 days
- Usually a week or so, but the doc who does the stitching should tell you specifically. Some stitches dissolve and don't have to be removed.
- When you have stitches it really depends how deep the wound. You should take your advise with regards to this as always from the medical professional that did the stitching and not from people on the Internet who may or may not know what they are talking about.
- Depends largely upon which type of stitching was used. There is a type (used most often in surgery) that simply dissolves and is absorbed by the body as it heals. The other it the kind that is removed usually after about 7 days (depending on the severity of the wound).
- For as long as your doctor tells you to. If YOU take them out early because they itch or bother you, you will ruin what the doc was trying to accomplish.
- Seven to ten days but not longer or infection could settle in.
- I agree 7-10 days
- u keep it on intill its okay
