Painful calluses on my fingers from playing guitar?
Hey, well I've been practicing my guitar like crazy for the past week because tomorrow I'm playing battle of the bands at The Knitting Factory so I wanted it to be perfect. Well, my fingers have developed really awful calluses from playing so much, and I was wondering if anyone had some remedies I could try that would work quickly? Thanks so much

- USE A PICK, OR PLAY THE DRUMS
- Try using some....Witch Hazel Lotion. Work the lotion in real well & keep repeating. It takes the pain away and will soften the calluses. Good luck at the Knitting Factory!
- I find that just not playing for a couple of hours helps! I know, I know, you gotta play tomorow, but you won't be able if your fingers are swollen! Rub a little moisturiser into them as well, keeps them in nice condition!
- Do you mean blisters? Calluses are usually considered a good thing. If you're new to guitar, you eventually want to build up firm, healthy calluses so that you can play consistently without pain. If you're already in a lot of pain, I'd recommend Witch Hazel which will draw out moisture (thus promoting callus growth), but will also relieve some pain. Whatever you do, don't use ointment as this will soften your calluses and make playing even more painful.
