my sewing machine keeps skipping stitches, what can i do to fix this?
every once in awhile it sews just fine, but it just keeps going back to skipping again, if i sew slower it skips less but still skips, if i sew fast it skips like every 2 or 3 stitches...does anyone have any advice???? ok, i have done what is suggested....cleaned it really well,,,and i even oiled it, but it is still skipping, adjusting the tension doesn't seem to do anything at al, could my tension knob be broken????

- more than likely you need to adjust the tension.
- It's probably the tension. Make sure that the machine is threaded properly. Might try flipping the spool over too.
- When is the last time you had it cleaned professionally? Or even just cleaned out the bobbin area. It's amazing how much fluff gets stuck up in there, and that can cause problems including skipping and jamming. Take out the bobbin and take off the dog foot cover. If you have some that canned spray air that you can find at a computer store works great. Give it a good wipe/blow and get as much of the fluff out as you can. Put it back together and try sewing. If it's still skipping, take it in for a professional cleaning.
- First thing Change the needle. Make sure it is facing the right way going by the flat side to the screw. Check threading. Pull the two disks that the tread goes threw and look inside, sometimes there is crap in there. Then after you got it threaded pull the thread threw the needle and keep pulling , It can't be to loose and you shouldn't have to pull hard . That is a tension adjustment before starting. Pull the bobbin out clean and check for crap and proper threading Than start stitching , adjust tension again by looking under the cloth. Your tension should be different going by the material.
