How do I start a local knitting group?
I am interested in starting my own local knitting group. There doesn't seem to be any in SE Phoenix area, so I want to form one! Any suggestions?

- It might be as simple as lining up a place to meet at a given time and posting notices in the local coffee houses, supermarket, library, or other heavily trafficked areas in the city inviting people to join you. If you have a Starbucks in the area they have been receptive to such groups in other areas, or the library may allow you to use a space, or the local arts center, senior center, or a church.
- Try joining Ravelry (https://www.ravelry.com) to find other knitters in your area. Join an existing group or start a new one, then schedule getogethers. Contact your local yarn shop to learn if there are any groups in the area or see if they'll allow one to meet at their store and post advertising in their shop for it.
- There are knitting guilds and anywhere you buy yarn may let post a request to form a group. I know several people who have done that. Check the internet and meet in a public place - Beverly's lets knitters meet there weekly in my area. When you see someone buying yarn, ask them. Conny L.
- There's a group on Yahoo called "SNB" - go there and search for Pheonix to find out if there are existing groups, and if so, see if they are interested in your area.
- ask to create a group at your local library or church (or whatever). There are many that would be happy to let you use their space and advertise where ever you can.
- There's actually a group on Ravelry for crafters in Arizona. I'm sure you could find some people there. ^_^
