anyone with brother SE270D help..?
I am new to USA. I am planing to buy this particular Brother model SE270D. The machine says computerized. what does that mean. I know basic tailoring/embroidery. I have not handled any embroidery machine. Will this be difficult to follow? The machine does come with a lot of designs. But most of those mikeymouse etc I may not use at all. Is there any provision to load my own created designs on to computer modify the format and load it onto card and the machine? Also I plan to take it to India in a year so any idea if there would be any problems that may be possible? Accordingly I will decide on buying either a normal machine and embroidering by hand or a SE270D. anyone who si using please help.would there be classes that BROTHER would offer? anyone has attended the class please help

- Hi there--I have the machine you want to buy. I'm pretty happy with it--it's easy to follow and the instructions are clear. The embroidery unit works relatively well, and yes, you can purchase a Brother PED Basic card machine that would allow you to download PES designs to a card that you can use in the machine. You can also just purchase PES cards to use in the machine. PES is the only format this machine takes. Drawbacks: This is a good solid low-end embroidery machine and will do simple tasks well; however, if you really want flexible machine embroidery, you'll end up wanting an intermediate version within a year or two. You can do some manipulation of size and position--but that is limited. I also find that I want more decorative regular stitch patterns than the machine has. Finally, the cartridge threading system can be a drag at times. It doesn't take larger spools and the standard Coats spools don't work well as the thread gets caught in the split at the top of the spool all the time. As far as what "computerized" means..that refers to the fact that the machine has a computer in it that allows you to set stitch patterns and sizes, as opposed to a mechanical machine, where those settings are done by dials and switches. Computerized machines make things simpler. This is a great machine for the money if you're a beginner, but if you want to do more advanced work, I recommend stepping up to a more advanced machine. Cheers!
