Help with my new embroidery machine.?
I just purchased the Brother SE-270D Disney embroidery machine. How do I convert downloaded designs from my computer to the memory card that fits into the machine? Is this possible? Or am I limited to designs found only on pre-loaded cards?

- You can use a flash card which connects to your machine via a usb slot. Your machine will use any design in PES format, and there are alot of designs out there that you can purchase at a nominal cost or get free. PES is one of the most common formats for designs. Alot of websites offer free designs and then have a yahoo group that also gives away free designs. Some of these sites are: www.diamondcottagedesigns.ca www.kittykittyproductions.com www.aadmall.com www.embroidery2U.com If, however you have a design that is not in PES format that you want to use, you ned to purchase software to convert the design. I use Embird and it allows you to see every design format except ART. It also allows you to change colours, pull compensation and size of designs. The most economical place to purchase this software is the secrets of embroidery website located at www.secretsof.com
- No, you are not limited to pre-loaded cards. I thought this and bought the card reader for my sewing machine and have never used it. I don't have the same machine but think the simple process would be similar. You just need a card reader that can be purchased at such stores as Staples, Best Buy, etc. that plugs into your computer with a usb cord. You transfer the downloaded design to the card. Then put the card back into the sewing machine to make the design. As another suggested, you can get software to convert designs that are the wrong size for your machine. Actually think you may also be able to find an embroidery site that allows you to convert designs for free. Hope someone can verify that. .
- Our local Walmart carries a card reader. Can't remember the brand name but believe it is a Brother product. Hope this helps.
- I also have a se270D Disney machine,my second machine, I spoke with my dealer because I had he same problem, She advised me that a reader/writer machine would work ,but the best thing was a magicbox .Since then, no problems transferring designs onto the card ,but it needs tohave a magicbox card for your machine, that is red and white in color with a 1 on the front of the card, this is a magicbox card that fits the se270D machine. If you get this setup write backand I will walk you through the steps of transferring of the designs, it can be tricky if you don't know what yuo are doing, I did not when I frist got it,but someone from the dealer talked me through it the first time I did it by myself. you can write to me at sandijk@satx.rr.com I will more than happy to assist you or you can send me your phone and I will call you to help you through it if you need it. number and I will call you to go through the steps, during the day time hours, it not a problem for me, I like to help as a lot of people have helped me and sometimes still do. sandi
- I have a Brother SE-270D also. To transfer downloaded designs from your computer to your machine, you'll need PED BASIC. When you purchase it, you'll get a card reader, softward disk and the card. They sell them at most Wal-marts that have a Fabric dept. for about $130, or you can get it at Joanns.com or on ebay (sometimes for a better price). It's pretty easy to use.
- You can useany .PES design onn yourBrother. It takes the same software as Babylock does. You can find designs @ Annthegrann.com and other places online for freeor for a fee. Any design CDs you buy, just make sure you have a .pes option on it. Congrats on your new machine.
