Stitches in too long?

Your Open QuestionShow me another » Stitches in too long? I had to get stitches on my neck and my plastic surgeon wanted to keep the stitches in for 10 days. It will be a week tomorrow and the stitches are starting to disappear as if they are growing into my skin. Is this normal?

1. Perfectly normal. Don't pick at them - infection possible.
2. Its fine the skin is just healing together. It wont be hard for them to take them out.
3. Call your doc tomorrow and tell them what is going on. Some folks heal faster than others. Please don't try to take them out yourself unless you know what you're doing. There is a particular way to take them out. If you know a nurse or someone who can help you and you're healed there's no reason to keep them in. You might want to consider getting some steri-strips before you do that though, especially if it's cosmetic surgery.
