- What did the vet say.
- it depends my female cats had to go back to the vets 2 weeks after they were spayed to have them removed but my male cats had the dis solvable ones so they didn't need to have them taken out. You could always call your vet surgery up and ask them :)
- Probably need to be removed in a couple weeks, try to keep your cat from reaching his stitches, you don't want them to be ripped out. And don't let your cat be too active until he is healed.
- They usually dissolve, you will have been told to make an appointment if they weren't to have them taken out?
- In a male some vets don't use stitches at all. If stitches are uses they most often use dissolveable stitches. Some vets however continue to use regular stitches that must be removed. The vet should have told you one way or another when you picked up the cat. Call them and ask if your cat need to come back and have stitches removed or not. No one but your vets office knows for sure what type of stitches are used.
- Your cats will need to have a post-operative check at the vets after about ten days, anyway, so it isn't really relevant but the vet should have told you when you collected your cats after the operation what sort of stitches were used. Normally cats will be wearing an Elizabethan collar after the op as well, so the wound can heal without any cat-like interference!
- Depends on what the vet used, for all our females (and males) our vet has used the ones that dissolve over time. You could just go in and ask to be sure.
