1. Do you mean the plastic child's version? For the first row, you just weave the yarn in and out between the hooks as you turn the crank so that only every other hook catches it. Then on the second row, let it feed through normally to every hook. If you mean a metal sock knitting machine, here are some manuals: http://www.angoravalley.com/csm_instructions.html
2. You're looking for the manual for a Kenner Knit-O-Matic, right? According to Wikipedia, Kenner was bought out by Hasbro, and Hasbro apparently no longer makes the Knit-O-Matic. However, they do have a web site with contact information for customer service at http://www.hasbro.com/customer-service/ . There is a Yahoo! Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Knit-o-Matic/ ) that you might check out. If anyone can help you with the threading instructions, it would be other owners.
