Why isn't my brother kh900 automatic knitting machine casting on.?

Bought a second-hand knitting machine and am having trouble with it. First it kept jamming on the needles. Now when it runs freely along it doesn't cast on or knit. Is there anything I'm doing wrong with it?

1. Those machines aren't your best bet. What you should do is purchase a knitting book or watch videos on how to cast on.
2. The machine may need a new sponge bar also called needle retaining bar. You can get one from www.metropolitanmachineknitting.co.uk www.undyarns.co.uk
