  1. BTM files: these don't appear to be Graphic Files but rather Batch Files. I could be wrong since rarely but sometimes file extensions are used in more than one type of application. I assume that you mean BMP files. If not, please see my note at the bottom about BTM files. You need to use a graphics program to convert your Graphic files to BMP or JPG files that most Embroidery Digitizing Programs can understand. Plus, you will need to have very clean clipart if you are looking for autodigitizing capabilities. So, you will need to use a Graphics program to clean up your clipart, such as MS Paint. If budget allows, Corel Draw or Corel PaintShop are worth looking into. If you will manually digitize, you won't need to have as clean clipart as if you autodigitize. Some embroidery packages to look at ($500 plus) are VSM Group autodigitizng, their VP3 packages (Husqvarna & Pfaff versions), Bernina has Bernina Plus ver 4 (has an autodigitizer in the Plus version), Janome has packages, Brother has packages available to name a few. Other packages are Origins, Corel, Generations that are all high end but suited for home use. Most packages I've mentioned will export to both HUS and PES formats and others as well. For a better price, without autodigitizng features, you can get a 30 day trial version of Embird http://www.embird.com/ that has a digitizing module that you can also try for 30 days. Great Notions has an autodiigitizng program that is less than the $500, around $200 or so, that will autodigitize clean clipart. It is called Click n Stitch, it probably doesn't allow one to do any manual editing so it is for home use only. If you plan to be selling designs, you want to go with the higher end softwares that has manuall digitizing as well as autodigitiizng,so that you can you can manually digitize & fix the auto-digitized designs. Having the option to do Manual digitizing is very important if you plan to be selling your designs. Some packages will link to your embroidery machine so that you can quickly test your designs. Usually they are packages from the same company that makes your machine. Please feal free to ask me other questions and I'll try to answer them for you. Are you asking about BMP files? I am not familiar with BTM files. You need to use a graphics program to convert your Graphic files to ones that Embroidery Digitizing Programs can understand, usually most digitizing programs will work with BMP file some also with JPG and a few with WMFs & some with other formats. There are many packages that are available for home use as well as professional use, usually they are expensive but not as expensive as ones for Commercial machines. You will digitize the artwoork and save it in the Embroidery Digitizing Native format and you will then be able to convert that Native Format to one that your home machine can read. JosyMaude NOTE: From http://www.jpsoft.com/help/index.htm?batchtype.htm On BTM files: Purpose: Switch a batch file to or from BTM mode. Format: LOADBTM [ON | OFF] Usage: The command processor recognizes three kinds of batch files: .CMD, .BAT, and .BTM. Batch files with a .BTM extension will run faster than .BAT or .CMD files, as they are loaded into memory at startup and do not open and close the batch file for each line (as do .BAT and .CMD files). The LOADBTM command turns BTM mode on and off. It can be used to switch modes in either a .CMD or .BTM file. If you use LOADBTM with no parameter, it will display the current batch mode: LOADBTM ON or LOADBTM OFF. Using LOADBTM to repeatedly switch modes within a batch file is not efficient. In most cases the speed gained by running some parts of the file in BTM mode will be more than offset by the speed lost through repeated loading of the file each time BTM mode is invoked. LOADBTM can only be used within a batch file. It is most often used to convert a .BAT or .CMD file to BTM mode without changing its extension.
