How do I knit something with the length longer than my knitting needles?

Hi! I'm planning to knit knee high leg warmers by connecting a long rectangle together by its size but the length will be longer than my knitting needles!

  1. Use a circular needle, BUT do NOT knit in a circle. Pretend the two needles tips are NOT connected by that thin plastic piece and knit AS IF you had 2 very long needles.
  2. You can knit anything in a *length* longer than your needles, but if the width is significantly longer than your needles and/or you are knitting side to side, you need a longer needle (straights come up to 14") or a circular needle.
