What do a beginner embroidery digitizer need to start with?

I just learned how to use my Brother PC 8200. I am now ready to move on to the next level to learn how to digitize the designs in using the artwork I want to scan. Yet, I do not know what I need to start. Please help. Thank you. There are many embroidery software out there, but for myself, I do not know which one is easy to learn to start with. I have heard of someone using some kind of a drawing tablet to digitize on but do not know if it is what I need also. I want to add one more thing. I use Embird and for my brother pc 8200, it accepts pes format.
