1. Try using Youtube...that's how I learned some basic patterns after my friend taught me how to chain and double crochet. I'm sure there's some beginners videos!

3. Ya i would try youtube. There are many how to videos by people. Thats how i learned. You can also try going to a half priced book store, they have a lot of books for beginners - advanced levels.
