Could I have a link to an easy garter stitch (knit and purl) online pattern?
Anything on straight needles is great. Is it possible to do socks on a straight needle..? I guess that's crazy. Perhaps a little wallet or something? I can only knit and purl. Garter stitch. Any free online patterns you could come up with for me?

- sweetie you can make just about anything with just knit or knit & purl but here are a couple of sites that might help. (did you know you can even make sweaters with knit only? - am planning on trying the baby surprise jacket by elizabeth zimmerman (the pattern is not free however but worth the cost) anyway here is a few places that might help - and be sure to use you-tube for references. they have great videos on How-to's of knitting http://knittingpatterncentral.com/ www.knittingonthenet.com http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEdf10/index.php http://www.lionbrand.com/content-knittingPatternIndex.html http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/207.asp
- No it's not crazy you can do socks on 2 needles and you could find patterns on line to do them. You would have to know how to increase and decrease though To increase---Here are a couple of ways. 1--knit your stitch but don't take it off the needle. Now go into that same stitch as to purl and catch the wool and knit the back part of the loop. You now have 2 stitches instead of one. 2--Knit the strand of wool between the 2 stitches to add an extra stitch. To decrease--there are 2 ways. 1--Knit 2 stitches together. Insert the needle into the next 2 stitches and knit it. You've decreased 1 stitch. 2-- s1,k1, PSSO--Insert the needle as if you were going to knit it and remove to the other needle without knitting--Slip one--knit the next stitch and then pick up the stitch you slipped off and pass it over the knit stitch. PSSO means pass slipped stitch over. Garter stitch is knit every row Rib stitch is knit 1 or sometimes 2 and then purl 1 or 2 and repeat across the row Stickingette stitch is knit 1 row then purl 1 row. Now you know enough to knit any easy pattern. I suggest you look around in the yarn companies websites and print out some easy patterns--they are all marked easy, med., or expert. Try Bernat, Lion brand, Pattons. I'm sure you'll find something you'd like to do in one of them
