Where can I donate baby blankets?
I crocheted my first baby blanket about three years ago and donated it to some local place in need of them. Now that I've moved, I'm not sure where I should donate them. My dad suggested the local hospitals, but will they really use them? Is there another place that is in need of baby blankets? I can probably get done 4 in a week if I have enough yarn, so all I'm in need of is a place to give them away.

- I am certain the hospitals would gladly accept them.I know the local hospitals here accept blankets and the little hats babies are given after delivery.
- A woman's shelter Thrift shop Orphanage Child welfare
- Contact Catholic Charities. They can use them for their Single Mom program or in the Women's Abuse Shelter
- Go to this web site http://www.coyotecommunications.com/stuff/teenvolunteers.html and scroll down to "home-based volunteering." There is a list of organizations there that accept home-made textile items. You can also call your local United Way and ask if they know of local agencies that accept these items.
- Call 211; they are the experts in non profits. Maybe a hospital or a senior center; a homeless shelter or a domestic abuse shelter. The need is great; the opportunities endless.
- How wonderful Check with your local life center which helps moms who have a lot of needs as well as women who are not sure if they want this baby. If your phone book does not show it under life center check under abortion alternatives or contact United Way for contact info. It would mean a whole lot to a mom who is trying to get by on very little to have something special for her baby. The Catholic church in your area probably has a help center too.
- Hospitals definitely use homemade blankets. I work in a children's hospital, and we like to be able to put a brand new homemade blanket on each bed before a patient is admitted. It makes the room seem less hospital-like and more home-like.
