- The most versatile "beginner" machine on the market today is the Silver Reed LK-150. It's a mid-gauge plastic bed machine that is very lightweight and truly portable. The carriage is very smooth. It works well with baby yarn, sports yarn, and some worsted weight yarn (categories 1, 2, & 3 with some yarns from category 4--I think that's laceweight, 4-ply, DK, and 8-ply). I have one and have made some cute baby clothes on it (mostly cardigans and hats). I don't know where you can buy one in Singapore or Korea. I do know the US dealer: Ileen Levy at http://www.ileen.com/. If you get in touch with Ileen, she can tell you if there is a dealer in your part of the world or perhaps in Australia. Or she can arrange to ship one to you.
