Convert photo to embroidery pattern?

I am looking for somewhere to buy a pattern made from my own photo, together with a complete kit of materials to complete the same picture. i.e. material and silks. I know nothing and this is a surprise gift. Can anyone guide or help me please?

  1. It's not absolutely what you want, but http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/ will convert a picture into a grid for cross stitch or knitting for you.
  2. If you have a scanner, you can scan the image and there is software available that will convert the image into a pattern. It might be worth looking on ebay for the software. Good luck.
  3. where to you live ????? there are places around that will do it for you i have it done but prices vary a lot i have had quotes from 50-250 for the same thing
  4. I offer this service. I can do the chart only for you for $20 up to 12" x 14" finished size, or as a kit for $20 plus the actual cost of the supplies. Are you looking for cross stitch or other embroidery stitches? You would need to supply color preferences-just like the photo? Pastels? etc.
  5. I have only seen this available for cross-stitch not embroidery. There are several companies that offer this service in cross-stitch - here are just two: http://www.needleworld.co.uk/acatalog/Photokits.html http://www.thehappycross-stitcher.com/page.php?xPage=photochart.html There are lots more if you google cross-stitch photos. See google link below.
