Why are hobby stores no longer carrying needlework kits?

I went into a Michael's today and couldn't find anything, except for DMC floss. I asked where all the kits were and was told they no longer carry them and neither does JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby. She said I'd have to go online to order from somewhere. What's this all about? Is the only way going to be through online ordering now?

  1. It all comes down to dollars. The stores must not be selling enough kits to justify keeping them on the shelves. Unfortunately, it sounds like you have to order online, unless you live somewhere near a store that specializes in needlework. There are some out there!
  2. It's been getting worse and worse. The needlework shops that you can find are slowing closing down too. I'm hoping this is just a recourse of the popular knitting and beading fads that's going on now. Who knows, Counted Cross Stitch might be on a comeback, like your decor and clothes change with the fads. Until then, there are some Online Shops with excellant customer service and Great sales. Here's a few of them: www.123stitch.com www.abcstitch.com www.thestitchstore.net www.everythingcrossstitch.com
  3. I recommend you to try Joann Fabric. It's good. And if you need joann fabrics coupons, this meter has been discussed before. check source
