Stitches

I have a knitting chart which has 43 stitches on it. The instructions say to cast on 67 stitches.?

The chart has a 24 st repeat indicated on the chart between stitches 11 and 34. How do I knit this? Do I knit the first 43 stitches as per chart and then add on stitches 11-34 at the end??? This would make the 67 stitches but I'm not sure it's correct.

  1. Look in the instructions. Usually it will say something like "knit 10 stitches, follow chart for next 24 stitches, knit 33 stitches. Then the next row would be "purl 33 stitches, follow line 2 of chart, purl next 10 stitches" or something similar, depending on the pattern. Look through the instructions, it should be in there.
  2. The pattern has a 24 stitch repeat but to get your item the correct size you need extra stitches each side of the pattern. Knit as follows Work stitches 1-34 (34 stitches) Work stitches 11-34 (You have now worked 34+24 stitches = 58) Work stitches 35-43 ( you have now worked 58+9 stitches =67 The next row you work stitches43-35(9 stitches) then 34-11 twice(48 stitches) then 10-1(10 stitches) 9+48+10=67 stitches Hope this makes sense
