Stitches

How to protect stitches in the rain?

Ok I have two 6 month old puppies who still have stitches in from dewclaw removal and nueter/spay. (before I get lectured on the dewclaws they were back hanging dewclaws that constantly snagged and caused the dog pain so I had them removed) The vet told me not the get the stitches wet and avoid walking the dogs in the rain. Well it has now been raining for 5 hours and my poor pups wanna go outside! Any ideas on how I can keep the stitches dry? Or do I just have to wait it out. Correction: the vet told me not to get. whoops

  1. For the paws with dewclaws, you can put the foot in a grocery bag and tie it loosely around the top, not allowing water in, but still allowing for blood circulation to the foot. As for the neuter/spay stitches, just don't let them roll in the grass or mud, so keep them on leashes when they are outside. Taking them out one at a time might be the best idea. Hopefully it has stopped raining by now though.
