Amigurumi crocheting question! Please help!?

After learning all the basics i purchased an adorable book called Amigurumi World by Ana Rimoli...so if anyone is familiar with the book that would help a lot! I have been trying to crochet the little coffee cup and have been doing the Rows and stitch count EXACTLY how the instructions tell you to but all i end up is with a huge circle. The edges curl up and i'm assuming if i keep stitching around it will end up looking like a cup but it seems as if the cup would end up looking waay too big...what am i doing wrong? Here is the pattern for reference: R1: ch2, 7 sc in second from hook R2: 2sc in each sc around (14 sts) R3: R1, 2 sc in next sc rep 7 times R4: sc 2, 2sc in next sc rep 7 R5 sc 3, 2sc in next sc rep 7 R6: through back loops only, sc3, dec 1 rep 7 times R7-15 sc 28 please help! it's been driving me crazy and i've had to re do the whole thing so many times! I think i've been reading the pattern pretty good...for example if it says sc 2, 2sc in next sc all you have to do is 2 single crochets in one and then 2 in the next right? ok..that all makes so much sense..i feel so dumb now! hehehe...i think what got me was instead of doing a single stitch in the next 2 stitches i was doing 2 stitches in each single stitch...i'm going to try it again and hopefully it will come out right! Thank you all so much for your help! it was getting really frustrating!

  1. No. If it says sc 2, 2 sc in next sc....that means you will do 1 sc in each of the next 2 scs and then do 2 sc in the next sc.
  2. Your correct for row 4 do a single stitch in the next 2 stitches and 2 single chains in the next stitch. Row 5 single chain in the next 3 stitches and 2 sc in the next stitch and repeat 7 times. In row 6 sc in the back loops of the stitches and sc in the next 3 stitches and in then decrease one stitch and repeat this seven times. I don't think you have completed the information on row 7 so if you need help with that e-mail me.
