Surgeons,doctors,dermatologists...how long will I have to keep my stitches in?
I'm getting a small mole removed (the doctor said it would be 1 or 2 stitches) and It's on my face - and i reallly can't go to school with stitches in my face. I get enough crap as it is. Will it be about 3 days? Will they come out naturally or will I have to get them taken out? How does the area look after stitches have been taken out? Is it obvious I've had stitches in when they're out? What can I do to prevent scarring? PLEASEEE help if you can. ok well generally then:)

- ask the Dr who will be doing the work...not people on YA who don't know your medical condition.
- I just got one done on my back, getting my stitches out tomorrow. I had to leave mine in for a week, so you will probably be the same, maybe less as I have 8 stitches (!!!) You have to get them taken out, they dont dissolve. There will probably be a red mark which will fade over time, you may initially have a little strip on it which holds the skin together... Once the skin has healed to a certain degree then you can try creams and things which cut down on likelihood of scarring and the amount of scarring...I would ask my doctor about that one..... Good luck! It doesnt really hurt, I had a light anesthetic and couldnt feel a thing!! occassionally pin-prick feeling of pain will occur, but its more of an annoyance than anything...and when it starts to heal it will probably be a little itchy. you will be fine! Ask ur doc about this so as to be sure, especially about scarring.... xx
