Stitches

Keep getting stitches when running, how can I help this?

I go running every night, like 6 minutes into it I get a stitch and have to stop, then breath then continue then stop again when i get another one. I keep having to cut short my running even when I feel very much capable of running for another 10-20 minutes, I hate it because I come home feeling that I haven't had a nice hard exercise. I usually leave at least 2 hours after eating before I run, sometimes 3 hours. I drink about half a liter in the hour before I run. I'm 19, weigh 250 lbs and am 6'2". I've been jogging for a few weeks but am finding it hard to increase my running times due to stiches.

  1. ok some one food that will help prevent stitches are bananas. they have potassium in them, and if you eat one about an hour and a half before your run this will help. its also important that you stay hydrated, because some of the stitches you're feeling could be dehydration cramps. a half liter will not do the trick. try to drink 4 water bottles during the day. also, don't drink a lot before you run, because too much water in your system will give you cramps as well. hope this helps.
