Stitches

Washing hair -vs- keeping stitches dry?

I recently had stitches in my head and was advised not to wash my hair for 10 days until the stitches are removed. Today is day 5 and I stupidly did some painting without covering my head. My hair is now covered in paint and desparately needs washing. Would it really harm my stitches and wound if I washed my hair?

  1. Yes, you could get a nasty infection if you got the wound wet. Rather follow the doctor's instructions and try to find an alternate way to cleaning your hair.
  2. Do as the doctor advised you to do. There used to be a waterless shampoo on the market, but I'm not sure if it's still sold. I don't remember the name but look for it in the stores. This product just gets sprinkled in & brushed out.
  3. you could use this stuff it is a dry sampoo my moms friend had something kind of like that happen and she used it is so weird to use but it gets the job done.
