Stitches

Stitches! WHAT TO DO? :(?

i just went for scalp surgery on tues..... but after that, doc didnt give me any medication to apply to the stitches. he just gave me strong tylenol (acetamin + cod) and said i can wash my hair the next day with water....but i will have to wait until today to shampoo. should i get baby shampoo or just use head and shoulders? the wound feels a little hurting....and i bet there's still some blood left. i cant see it myself though since it's at the back. what do you think? i will have to keep stitches in place for next 6 weeks

  1. It is important to keep the wound clean and to cleanse it daily. I would not use a harsh shampoo. Baby shampoo would be adequate and use soap sparingly. Don't worry about blood or drainage too much. You may want to ask someone to occasionally look at your wound and look for signs of infection. If you see any puss or severe redness you should call your doctor.
  2. I would use the baby shampoo and be very gentle around the stitched area. You also might try putting a small amount of a neutral or medicated lotion on the stitches, so the skin doesn't dry up and pull hard on the stitches and cause additional pain and/or itching.
  3. i would ask the doctor but i would probably use baby shampoo as that is not perfumed so it want nip i dont think anything would go wrong by using head n shoulders but i would baby shampoo s i will hurt like hell if you use perfumed shampoo
