how long does it take for dissolvable stitches to dissolve?

i had my appointment with my OB yesterday after 6 weeks of giving birth, she said my stitches are not dissolved yet.. i dont have any itching or burning, then why it is taking so much time? my OB said its ok and not to worry and even i can have sex.. anyone there who took this much time? when your stitches were dissolved?

1. Mine took about 6 weeks, but I'm still sore a little and it's been 8 weeks for me. The Dr. said it is totally normal. It will probably be real soon! :)
2. at 6 weeks i could tell they were mostly dissolved but i had a little bump were the dr. told me they were not totally dissolved and the skin had grown over it. they said i could have sex but it would be pain full. everyone heals differently try ur sits bath to soak they will heal faster this way. the burning and itching is probably just irritation from wearing a pad for so long.
