Is it too early to start making or buying things for the baby?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant. My fiance and I went to the market today and i bought a lot of soft cotton wool in yellow, green, purple and blue and some knitting patterns for baby things. We are both excited about the baby, if we could have done we probably would have bought everything for a baby nursery today - we're moving in the middle of May so we didn't see the point but I knit and crochet a lot so the wool has a place in our current home. Would it be too early to start making things or buying things for the baby?

  1. It all depends on you. If you are secure in your pregnancy, make them - they will always come in. Wish I could knit! Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope it progresses well and that you both enjoy being parents.
  2. there is nothing like to early or too late it depends on how much u r emotionally attached to the baby
  3. I personally think that you should wait a while until you guys get settled in. You should start plannin/buying items about 2-3 before the baby comes
  4. No way, me and my husband bought 1 thing a week til the baby was born so it didn't hit us financially so hard. Best decision ever made :) We have tons and tons of lovely things for our daughter, shes truly spoilt and we never felt the pinch!! x
  5. I know it's all very exciting, but 6 weeks is early days - I would wait until you're about 4 months (until your scan) before starting to furnish your nursery. If you're moving in May, after that would be perfect timing. Good luck with the little 'un!
  6. I think its too early! I start buying thing for my baby when I am 30 weeks pregnant. Best if you wait until you are 4 months or you find out the gender so you know what to buy. Good luck and congratulations!
  7. I don't think it's too early. The only thing I'd be concerned about is miscarriage. If you lost the baby would it be too hard seeing baby items around? If so, wait a while until you're in your second trimester and are less likely to miscarry. Otherwise, go for it.
