removing a stitch from clothing?

there are some words stitched on my clothes. is there a way i can take it out or make it less noticeable without patching another stitch on top of it?

1. Use a seam ripper to pull out the stitching. You can find them in fabric stores.
2. Sword Lily is right, but the holes may end up being visible.
