Is it normal for you skin to heal over stitches that the Dr. planned on removing?

I had my left ovary removed 2 weeks ago. When the Dr. went to remove the stitches she told me she couldn't remove them because my skin healed over them. She told me it should be fine, but it doesn't feel fine. Will it be fine?
