Stitches

Is there an easy way to sew a design (like cross stitch) on to a cushion?

I already have designs I'd like to add, but am wanting to know precisely how to stitch the design as I won't have the aida as a guide like usual. thanks

  1. If you want to embroider a cushion you have to remove the cushion cover first. Then you need to transfer the design you want onto the fabric so you can see where to stitch. If you go to a crafts shop there will be lots of designs to inspire you and booklets telling you how to do it.
  2. There is also an item called waste canvas you can use to do counted cross stitch on plain fabric. http://crossstitch.about.com/od/wastecanva1/p/wastecanvas.htm
  3. Greco is correct waste canvas will be the solution.
  4. You should get some soluble Cross stitch canvas/material,you sew through the soluble canvas onto the cushion cover and then when finished wash the cushion cover, the canvas dissolves and youre left with the design on the cover the way you want it. I'm pretty sure DMC stock it as they use it in their Hello Kitty personalising kits.
  5. the soluable one is really easy to use but your fabric must be washable.
