Stitches

What happens if you don't get stitches on something that needs it?

I accidentally cut my arm but I don't want to go to the hospital/doctor because I just stopped cutting like a year or so ago and even though i haven't started again, my mom will automatically think that I am and have a heart attack or something and my dad will start fighting with my mom and it will cause problems and I don't want to get into that. What will happen if I don't get it stitched? How can I take care of it and let it heal without infection?

  1. I don't understand, if you have been used to cutting yourself, then surely you should know the answer to your own question. If a deep cut that needs sutures is not sewn up, it can leave an ugly scar, or if it is very deep it can cause a dead space and or an abscess. If it is deep and bleeding a lot you need to see a doctor
  2. use some common anapestic to sterilize the wound(NEOSPORIN, or HYDROGEN PEROXIDE) then get something to hold the wound together, like tape or steri strip, depending on the size of the cut i would then put a sterilized gauze over the whole thing and tape it in place.
  3. I'm not a doctor. ive had injuries requiring stitches a few different times. The big risks are serious infection and bad scarring. Tell your mom. If you did this to yourself you need help and no one can help you if you hide it. Your parents are grown, let them take responsibility for their behavior and don't ever blame yourself for the choices they make I.e. freaking out or fighting with each other instead of working together. If it was truly an accident tell them anyway, they have an obligation to get you medical care if needed.
  4. It will heal, it just want be pretty. Our bodies were created to heal themselves, if you don't get stitches immediately they want be able to do it anyway because you will have already begun to heal. Especially if it is the day after. Just clean it with peroxide, I would mix a little alcohol with the peroxide if the area is sore. the alcohol will help with stiffness and soreness. Cuts heal from the inside out and if the cut i deep man oh man it will be so sore in the beginning of healing. I am not a Doctor, just a regular person who has experience in this area. If you are not cutting yourself anymore, ask your parents to believe that you are telling the truth if you are. If you have truly changed God will help them to regain trust in you. GOD BLESS YOU!!!
