2. I once Googled "cancer hat pattern free" and came up with several very good sites for hat and cap patterns. You could try that. You could also check out any yarn manufacturers' websites that you can find. I know the address for www.lionbrand.com and www.coatsandclark.com (they do Red Heart, Moda Dea, TLC, and a few others) If you have yarn from Caron or Patons or other manufacturers, you can check the wrapper for a web address. Yarn manufacturers often have plenty of good free patterns on their websites because they want us to have patterns so we will buy more yarn (theirs, they hope) to make these things.
3. My favorite site is http://lionbrand.com/. When you type in "crochet hats" in the "pattern finder" feature many types of hats and caps come up. They also list the skill level such as easy, beginner, intermediate, etc... Give it a try. :)
4. Try http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory.php they have several categories you may luck with. Lion Brand, Bernat, and other yarn manufacturers' websites usually have free patterns as well.
5. you can also go to your local joanns or michaels and they usually have free patterns for stuff like that in store or online they have several sites lionbrand.com joanns website michaels website
