Is angora rabbit knitting yarn is animal friendly?

What is the rabbit reaction and is this against the animals rights?

  1. As far as I know, it's just like shearing sheep. The animal is unharmed and the wool grows back.
  2. According to eHow, the rabbit's fur is harvesting by collecting it as it is shed naturally. While the rabbit can be sheared, shearing mixes the coarser guard hairs in with the soft fur that's typical of Angora yarn. AllFiberArts.com provides more information on breeds, shedding, and fur collecting that indicates that collecting Angora fur can be harmless to the rabbit.
  3. This yarn is friendly to the rabbits but not always to the humans who wear it. The yarn sheds fibers constantly even after washing. Many people find this causes eye irritation. I would particularly avoid using angora for babies and young children.
