What should I name my junk/storage room?

We don't have a basement. We have a two car garage, and an attic that I would prefer not to clutter with crap. So, I have decided to convert a small room about 6' X 9' into a storage/pantry room. I have two big shelving units and would like to keep our suitcases there, maybe use one or two shelves for canned goods, bath linens, and containers holding sewing/needlework supplies, magazines, and gifts. I am trying to come up with a cute catch all for the Junk Room/The Vault/Treasure Room, etc. Please help me come up with a name. BTW, our house has two nice sized bedrooms, two baths, the laundry room is in our Master bedroom, in an alcove off the room. Our house is a one-floor rambler, sort of like a cabin on the lake! A wonderful home for retirement. I am trying to down-size and have everything neat. I am clean-gene deficient so I need to maximize this little room and make it easy for me to get to my treasures or canned goods. lol FYI: I like to name rooms or places. Our house is called "On Golden Pond" like the movie. I guess I am eccentric!

  2. Walk in storage room. Good luck with a name!
  3. No Man's Land
  4. "The Cubby Hole" Just memories resurfacing. That's what we used to call the place under the basement stairs. All treasures there.
  5. I think naming this room is a great idea. I know many people who have also named their homes. It's also a southern tradition. I learned that three years ago, when I left Ohio & moved south. The Menagerie Room Hidden Treasures Room This & That Room The Nook (your name) Room The Golden Pond Room
  6. I grew up in a house with an extra room we called "The Dismal Swamp". You are so lucky to live in a one-story house. Mine has 3 and I'm up and down all day like a yo-yo. The laundry is in the basement. I can hardly wait to move.
  7. Fantasy Island. hehe
  8. If you intend this room to be a dark secluded place where no one else will know your face, I would call it "Hernando's Hideaway." OLE ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYeCFkyJR5c
  9. The Cache Closet.
  10. I never thought of giving rooms names but I like the idea of naming your house. We live in the country on a 20 acre farm in an old farmhouse I just may name our house, but I don.t know a good name. You could name your storage room The Guess Room. I too have a storage room and have to guess where I put something I am looking for. Poppy

  21. Well, since you've got approximately 54 square feet there for your ' junk ', why not just call it ' Room No. 54 ' ? If nothing else, explaining to any guests you might have why you call it that would amount to quite a little conversation piece... Another suggestion might be ' The Distribution Depot ', or not. After all, what do I know...?
  22. When I was 7 years old I had a friend I'd go to visit and she refued to clean up her room so in her room she had a large dresser that her mother turned at an angle (so there was a corner triangle to stuff her dirty clothes, clean clothes and anything else she left laying around)until the girl decided to clean it up. Her mother named it the "Glory Hole". I went home and eventully I had a "Glory Hole" place to hide a lot of stuff, now that name "Glory Hole" to me sounds like an appropriate name (may fit your room). Of course we had a "sewing room", a "storage room" to iron in and a pantry and foyer. You know we have a generic postage stamp the postal service has put out and darned if I can't remember it's name so I will it the wherever, whenever, whatever, thing-a-ma-jigger, all-weather stamp. So maybe your room doesn't need a noun for a name, maybe it needs a description. Like the pink room.
  23. (((T-Rex))) What a great idea. As of yet, I'm not technically a senior, but your lakeside cabin sounds like a place I just dreamed about. So serene, close to nature.. the perfect place to kick back & relax. Do you or your partner ever fish on that Golden Pond? How about naming your catch-all room.. "The Tackle Box"- ..because it tackles the job of sorting & storing all those assorted treasures you've gathered for use "On Golden Pond"!
  24. STUFF N' SUCH
  25. Maybe Treasure Island or The Bird's Nest (of course, that would be more like an attic room. My first thought was The Office until you mentioned liking place names. Actually, I like someone's suggestion for Area 51 best.
