In knitting instructions, what does "mark both ends" mean?
I have a pattern for a baby sweater with a hood and it states to mark both ends of the row on the hood before starting the decrease. How do you do that?

- Cut a small piece of wool and tie it on to the first and last stitch. You will be able to remove it when the shaping has finished.
- I make a loop of a contrasting yarn around main colour at start of row and at end. This is to help in the making up.You can buy yarn markers at your local wool shop but a piece of contrasting yarn or a paper clip would do.
