  1. I too wanted to do this, so I spent 600.00 on a used embroider .machine. Each diff card is 100.00.And you should be very computer savvy. Its an expensive hobby, unfortunately not very profitable. the set up is time consuming also. And from my experience, people want them in their own colors, names etc.Leave it to the pros, sorry, just being truthful. I never recouped my original investment. But it was fun at first.
  2. I started embroidering about 4 years ago as my children bought me the brother disney emb/sewing machine as a christmas gift. Since then I have aquired 3 more machines. My least favorite is the singer which I won but it does alot more than the smaller ones I have. I just haven't put enough time into learning how to use it.. I do not buy the design cards though..instead I bought the PED CARD WRITER at walmart for 125.00. very very easy to use...I buy embroidery designs from the internet and download them and load them onto the card as I need them...threads, stablizers, needles all play a role in your embroidery results...I like many others love this new hobby and I find myself sewing less and embroidering more...an absolute must is to learn the ins and outs of the machine with lots of practice on scrap fabrics before you try an actual piece of clothing....there are two types of embroiderers..those who do a test sew out and those who wish they had...good luck...
  3. It would be a great and rewarding adventure, what are you waiting, for start now.
  4. There is a great website that I found http://www.dekatzenembroidery.co.za. They have a tips page that has a great deal of info on machine embroidery. Other than that I would suggest that you go and visit your local sewing machine dealers and have them demo their machines for you. You will be astounded at what can be done, and most of them are extremely helpful in advice and getting you going (of course they are all trying to make money lol!) Have fun!
