Stitches

How do i make my cross stitch design smaller?

This is the pattern http://www.flickr.com/photos/23769279@N05/3318418211/ I don't have enough time to make it this big.. I have done it before and it took up alot of time.. and this time I have only around a week. I hope someone can help me on how to make it smaller.. maybe just half the size. I know there is sizes on the page but that just makes the picture smaller, not the design. Thanks everyone :)

  1. you use a smaller count fabric lots of suggestions on net web sights for cross stitch or talk to you local needlework shop people
  2. To halve the size you would need to use 28 count over one thread. Not sure if you would gain anything time wise for stitching though.
  3. You could treat the pattern as if it was meant to be stitched 1 over 1. But stitch it 2 over 2. In the hat part you would do 1 full cross stitch and then mark off 4 squares on the pattern. I know this sounds weird, and you would have to do some 3/4 and 1/4 stitches to keep with the pattern. Or re-write some of the edges. Another option would be to do the whole thing in half stitches. If you choose this one, I would use 1 or 2 more strands of floss to make them look thicker and them maybe even lay (using a laying tool to make sure the threads lay flat and not twisted) the stitches.
